About Me
Myself and my husband Paudie built Knockcarrig House on the edge of our private 20 acre cattle farm in the residential area of Lissivigeen, Killarney. I have many years of experience in the hospitality industry and Paudie is a dairy farmer.
‘Knockcarrig’ comes from the Irish language which means hill of the stones. As farmers who feel an incredible link to the land, it was only fitting to call our house after the farm land on which it is found.
If you were to literally start digging in the fields, you would find plenty of stones in the earth! Traditionally these stones were then used to build walls to divide the fields of the farm. And as for the hill part- well if you were to walk from one end of the farm to the other, you would find yourself climbing a little hill which gives you a panoramic view of the magnificent McGillicuddy Reek mountains!
