Mount Brandon Cottages

We have two houses (side by side) at your disposal.

Nestled in the lush countryside of the Barrow Valley, Mount Brandon Cottages are situated only 500 yards from the picturesque, historic town of Graiguenamanagh, the Village of the Monks.

Approached via a long tree-lined avenue, our two self-catering cottages are 4* Failte Ireland approved and have been awarded the COVID-19 safety charter. The houses are set in extensive, landscaped gardens, where we have spotted some exciting wildlife, incl. badgers, foxes, hedgehogs and even a barn owl.
The properties offer breathtaking views of Brandon Hill and the town below. The Barrow lends itself for kayaking, SUP, canoeing, fishing and gentle walks or cycles along the towpath. Within walking distance there are two stunning forest walks: Silaire Wood (it even has a boardwalk along the river) and Clashganny Wood.
For the more energetic, Brandon Hill offers extensive hill-walking opportunities.
Base yourself here with us here at Mount Brandon Cottages to experience Ireland’s Ancient East/the sunny southeast of Ireland.

And to wow you even more: We do have a pottery school right here onsite, where you can learn how to throw a pot. Or indeed buy a souvenir to take home with you.

Property Location:
Mount Brandon, Tinnahinch, Graiguenamanagh, County Carlow, Ireland  R95WY29 Republic of IrelandOpen In Google Maps
Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny is only a short stroll (500 yds) from the property. There you will find Ireland's largest and oldest Cistercian Abbey, Duiske Abbey, which was founded in 1204. There are coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, two supermarkets and much more in this picturesque, medieval town. We have beautiful walks along the Barrow towpath, or for the more energetic visitor, why not climb Brandon Hill and explore the Blackstairs mountain range. The Barrow has a range of outdoor activities to offer, such as kayaking, rowing, stand-up paddleboarding and swimming. Of course, there is fishing here, also. Make sure to check out the smallest street in the world: Peg Washington's Lane, which is right here in Graigue. And did you know that the cow that started the Great Chicago Fire came from this wee town? There is a yearly regatta in August and an annual Book Festival in September. The Writers and Ideas Festival is held in nearby Borris, only 8 minutes' drive away. Kilkenny as well as Carlow are just over 30 minutes from here. Graiguenamanagh has a state-of-the-art children's playground. There are beautiful drives (Sam Bennett route) and fantastic cycles around. Check out the Hidden Sky Road if you are going to cycle. It is amazing. Bike Hire as well as kayaks for rent can be found nearby.
When you come to stay with us it may be reassuring to know that we live on the property ourselves, so we are never too far to give you advice or recommendations and are always on hand to sort a problem, should one occur. We do have key safety boxes outside each of the properties. The code for same box will be texted to you the day of your arrival. This facilitates late check-ins, also. There are two border collies living here (Boomer and Dusty), who are very affectionate and always ready for a game of fetch.
