Carrickfinn Holiday Cottage (with sauna) is located in Carrickfinn West Donegal, in an area of spectacular coastal scenery, on the Wild Atlantic Way. Majestic Mt. Errigal hovers in the distance as it stands guard over Ireland's largest Gaeltacht area. It is just a short walk to a choice of golden sandy beaches, e.g. Oilean na Marbh/ the Boat Strand beach and An Trá Bhan (Blue Flag Beach). Part of the Carrickfinn peninsula has been designated a Special Area of Conservation and also a Natural Heritage area. In summer the corncrake is a welcome visitor and it can be heard calling in several parts of the peninsula. West Donegal is home to world famous musicians such as Mairead Mooney Altan, Enya, Máire Brennan & Clannad, Daniel O Donnell. In 2018 ,2019 and 2020,Donegal Regional Airport Carrickfinn was voted No. 1 most scenic landing in the WORLD. Activities include Walking, mountain climbing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, golf , fishing Visitor attractions include Crolly Distillery, Errigal Mt, The Poisoned Glen, Dunlewey Church, Glenveagh Castle & Gardens, Burtonport fishing village, Aranmore, Island, Gola Island, Tory Island, Bloody Foreland, Horn Head, Sliabh League, Cruit & Gweedore Golf Courses. Our holiday cottage, with a sauna and free WiFi, is ideally situated for a great holiday in Donegal any time of the year. . It is family friendly, has an open living /dining and kitchen area. There are 3 en-suite bedrooms, one of these is downstairs . Carrickfinn is a beautiful scenic area that our visitors love, many return year after year. Many find one week s not long enough and it pleases us so much when hear that the children do not want to leave. When we opened our self catering properties 23 years ago children who came then with their mum and dad, are now delighted to bring their own family. This area has so much to offer. There are golden sandy beaches on the doorstep. It is a short distance to the ferry for Aranmore, Gola and Tory Islands. Mt. Errigal can be seen from the cottage and getting to its summit is a challenge many people want to attempt. If you like walking, it is the ideal place with so many choices. Places to visit :The Poisined Glen, Glenveagh Castle & National Park, Glebe Gallery, Horn Head and Sliabh League.
