The renovated and restored Old Schoolhouse in Carrickfinn re-opened in 1997 and has provided quality accommodation to visitors from all over the world ever since .

The Old Schoolhouse is located in Carrickfinn Kincasslagh West Donegal, in an area of spectacular coastal scenery, on the Wild Atlantic Way. Majestic Mt. Errigal hovers in the distance as it stands guard over Ireland's largest Gaeltacht area. It is just a short walk to a choice of golden sandy beaches, e.g. Oilean na Marbh/ the Boat Strand beach and An Trá Bhan (Blue Flag Beach). Part of the Carrickfinn peninsula has been designated a Special Area of Conservation and also a Natural Heritage area. In summer the corncrake is a welcome visitor and it can be heard calling in several parts of the peninsula. West Donegal is home to world famous musicians such as Mairead Mooney Altan, Enya, Máire Brennan & Clannad, Daniel O Donnell. In 2018 ,2019 and 2020,Donegal Regional Airport Carrickfinn was voted No. 1 most scenic landing in the WORLD. Carrickfin School, with one classroom, opened in 1905. It was attended by all the children from the area. It closed in 1968. and the children went to the school in Annagry village. The name on the front pillar reads "Carrickin Island School". Carrickfin was an island over 100 years ago. The Old Schoolhouse is on private grounds and surrounded by the original stone wall. Outside space has ample parking, a garden and decking area
