An open fire and comfortable chairs mean you can relax in a cosy, sociable space. Access to the terrace, through the French windows, leads you to the spectacular shoreline.

Sitting room, with wide windows looking south and west across the bay. The room has a stove, 2 large sofas and 2 armchairs. Linked to the kitchen/dining area, the space feels both connected, creating a sense of space, and separate, allowing different groups to relax in their own way. The room contains a wireless speaker and FM radio, which can be heard in both areas.

4 bedrooms

Master bedroom – With a king size bed and semi en-suite bath room, wardrobe, dressing table and access to the terrace, this room offers ample space and privacy from the remainder of the house.

Double/twin – Containing a super king bed, which can be split to make two full size singles, a chest of drawers and hanging rail. This room has three windows with views of the sea, Cashel mountain and the setting sun.

Twin room – This twin room has sea views from both beds a chest of drawers and high light ceilings.

Twin/bunk room – These beds can make either two singles or a bunk, depending on your needs. The room has chest of drawers and hooks for hanging.

2 Bathrooms

Master bathroom – Containing bath, lavatory, sink and large vanity unit, this room is accessible to other guests or exclusive to the master bedroom.
Family bathroom – Equipped with bath with stand-up shower unit, sink, lavatory and washboard.

Utilities

The house has a washing machine and tumble dryer, pressurised hot water and heating which can be controlled from your mobile phone, an iron and ironing board and heated drying rack.

Outside

The house is situated at the end of a private drive, out of view of the public road. There is ample parking for 2 cars, a large terrace and about an acre of surrounding land, leading to private shoreline. A small shed contains wood for the fire, garden furniture and a barbecue.

Nearby The sea, islands, coastline, mountains and towns offer distractions for all ages and abilities. Walks There are plenty of walks from the house itself, either along the bay or up Cashel Mountain. Or you can head out to climb the Bens, explore the coast near Ballyconneely or amble through Roundstone and Clifden. Connemara’s unique peat bog and mountains provide stunning walks, expansive views and plenty of interest for nature-lovers. Ballynahinch Hotel has a number of maintained walks through its grounds which take you past fishing beats, through woodland and along the Ballynahinch river. You can relax over an afternoon tea in the hotel afterwards. Beaches There are hundreds. Check the map in the sitting room for directions. Or Google. Our favourites are: Moyrus, near Carna. 30min drive. Hard to find but easy to park. Calm, clear, shallow water, rock pools. Great for children. Gurteen and Dog’s Bay, near Roundstone. 20min drive. Calm, clear water, miles of sand. Very child friendly. Great for a quick afternoon walk. Mannin, near Ballyconneely. 40min drive. Miles of beach along a bay with views over the Twelve Bens. Rock pools, cowry shells, sand dunes, and swimming. Doonloughan, near Ballyconneely. 35min drive. Atlantic facing and excellent for surfing/bodyboarding with a good swell. Plenty of sheltered areas to recover from the waves with sausages on the beach. Eating Out Cashel (5min) Cashel House Hotel, halfway up the bay. 20 min walk or 5 min drive. Zetland Country House Hotel, is a little further, at the head of the bay. Good bar and magnificent sunset views down the bay. Roundstone (20min) O’Dowds is a traditional pub and restaurant, serving excellent seafood and steaks. Bogbean Cafe serves great coffee and excellent breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Clifden (30min) Mitchell’s Seafood Restaurant has excellent food and a central location on the town square Guy’s Bar does great pizza, gourmet burgers & seafood Fishing Lakes and rivers of the peat bog offer a mix of private and open access fishing. Bring plenty of midge spray! Ballynahinch Hotel has excellent salmon and trout fishing along the Ballynahinch river Sea fishing boats operate from Roundstone and Clifden. There are often mackerel in the mouth of Bertraghboy bay Mussels, scallops and oysters. Forage for mussels along the shore in front of the house or dive for oysters and scallops on the sand banks nearby Island Trips There are a number of island day trips you can do from the house. Inishboffin lies to the north and is reached by boat from Cleggan, north of Clifden Omey Island can be reached at low tide in a car from Claddaghduff The Aran Island ferry leaves from Rossaveel, about 45min drive south Glinsk, Carna and Lettermore Connemara is one of the great Gaeltacht (Gaelic speaking) areas of Ireland. Glinsk, Carna and Lettermore (Leitir Móir) are about 30 minutes drive south, offering rugged coastline, islands, sandy beaches and clear blue seas.
